The Opening Ceremony and Grand Parade officially launches the annual Litchfield Rural Show on show Saturday at 2 pm, bringing together the heart of the rural community in a colourful celebration of Territory rural life and local spirit.

The ceremony features the official opening by the Administrator of the Northern Territory, and other guest speakers, recognising the volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors and community groups who help make the show possible. The show’s perpetual trophies are awarded to this year’s winners.

  • Creative Jewellers Studio Outstanding Achievement Award – Most outstanding exhibitor achievement in this year’s show
  • Ruth Neuendorf Memorial Trophy – For an outstanding volunteer
  • Siteholders Challenge – Best presented site
  • Young Rural Achiever – Junior and Senior winners

The Grand Parade follows close after, and showcases the diverse people and organisations that make up the rural area, including equestrian and livestock groups, community organisations, emergency services, agricultural exhibitors, classic cars, businesses, sponsors and special guests. Decorated vehicles, horses, performers and local identities create a vibrant procession that celebrates the character and resilience of rural living in the Top End.

A much-loved highlight of the show, the Opening Ceremony and Grand Parade is a chance for the whole community to come together, honour long-standing traditions, and celebrate everything that makes the Territory unique.

Come down to the Livingstone Oval on Saturday of the show weekend – the Opening Ceremony starts at 2 pm, and the Grand Parade kicks off at 2.20 pm.
