Freds Pass Reserve has been an important part of our Show’s history, hosting many memorable events and helping shape the strong community spirit the Show is known for today. We are incredibly grateful for the years spent there and the support of everyone who contributed to its success.
As the Show has continued to grow, it became clear that a new location would allow us to expand and build for the future. Livingstone Recreation Reserve provides the space, flexibility and long-term opportunity needed to take the Show to the next level.
With a larger footprint, improved access, expanded parking and greater capacity for exhibitors and attractions, the new site allows for better layout design, smoother crowd flow and room to introduce new experiences over time. The open grounds give us the ability to grow while still maintaining the welcoming, community atmosphere that makes the Show so special.
All the favourites remain firmly at the heart of the event — Paddock to Plate, Woodchopping, Main Stage entertainment, competitions and Sideshow Alley — now with even more room to shine.
This relocation is more than just a change of address. It represents a long-term vision to secure the future of the Litchfield Rural Show and create an event space that can continue evolving for generations to come.
2025 saw our 46th year of the Freds Pass Rural Show. Over the last 46 years it is estimated that in excess of half a million Territorians have had an opportunity to sample a ‘unique slice of rural life’ through a family visit to the iconic Freds Pass Rural Show. In 2020 and 2021, due to the pandemic there was a need to go to Online Shows, both of which were well supported and successful. In 2022 the Freds Pass Rural Show was back and continues to be enjoyed by all!
The show had humble beginnings, as a small Apex run rural fete for the Howard Springs Primary School in 1978, and was run under an independent committee until 2006. As the show grew in size, the Freds Pass Reserve Board took over management of the event from 2006 to 2013. 2014 marked the return to an independently run event steered by an enthusiastic show committee (run as an Incorporated Association) who aims to continually build, develop and promote this fantastic event which attracts approx 10,000 people over a two day period.
The show is known for its strong rural theming with a range of equestrian events, livestock judging, animal displays, competition pavilions showcasing the community’s many artistic and creative talents, wood chopping exhibition, side show alley, main stage acts, music talent quests, Young Rural Achiever Awards and a vast array of poultry, horticulture and market garden produce. It has truly become an annual event where ‘urban meets rural’. Foodies are well catered for with great food stalls and the Paddock to Plate Marquee, where local produce is displayed, cooked and sampled.
Children are not forgotten as free children’s activities run on both days of the show, and our Outback Track bags provide fun and goodies as kids search for the participating site holders to collect the give-aways. Saturday and Sunday feature exciting entertainment acts focusing on utilising local talent wherever possible. On Saturday night everyone gathers for a spectacular fireworks display, and then party on to great live entertainment under the stars.
Now entering a new era, the Litchfield Rural Show is a highly effective platform for community groups, businesses and industry to come on board as contributors, exhibitors and sponsors.

Economic Profile of the Freds Pass Rural Show 2024 – (2025 profile available early in 2026)
The NT Show Council has completed the economic profile of all the NT agricultural shows. Based on 2023 figures, it gives a summary of how many dollars each show contributes to its local economy. It is estimated that the Freds Pass Rural Show’s economic impact is approximately $1,274,780!
